Centrelink Careers and Job Information Centre

Ground Level (Sydney Central), 477 Pitt St, Sydney.

Entry is via the North Wing Lift Lobby (to the right of the Florist shop). Go through the North Wing Lift Lobby, and enter through the Centrelink door. The Careers and Job Information Centre is only one of several Centrelink departments that exist in this office. There is no collection of payment forms here.

The person looking after the library is seated at the desk immediately inside the front door. There is an extensive library of information on careers and jobs. They have a library of TAFE and University handbooks and other information. There is a small video library containing defence and other career information. They have available a computerised career assessment based on personal likes. Allow 40 minutes, or perhaps half a day if you wish to explore different skill levels. This assessment is NOT a psychological assessment, but is a personal preference assessment. (A career counselling session that includes psychometric assessment can be arranged through a Centrelink officer or Job Network Provider.) They have some job kiosks that access the government jobsearch.gov.au web site. They will provide limited photocopying on their staff photocopier; just ask at the front desk and a staff member will photocopy for you. There are some tables and chairs just inside the front door where printed copies of the Jobguide 2006 are available for reading, and is also available online. [Updated: 2006-07-20.]
